No you can use them on wood, steel, aluminum, plastics and just about everything.

Are bits hard to remove from case? Looks like not enough room between them for your fingers.

They pull out fine. The smallest 2 or 3 bits I had to work loose the first time. Not a problem. I’m female and 73. Wasn’t an issue for me.

Does this work with a dewalt 20v max and can it drill through metal?

Answer:

I should work fine with your drill either chucked or with a snap adapter. I have used mine in wood and aluminum with very good results but have not tried with steel.
